Program Brief
Politics is a forum to serve people and represent their hopes and aspirations. Politicians come in contact with a large number of people, who in turn have high expectations from them. Carrying the burden of expectations of the masses and trying to meet the necessary demands of people can place a politician under considerable stress.
Politics today is afflicted by the same maladies that plague society, and the root of those ills are weaknesses such as greed, anger and rivalry. Political decisions corrupted by vices have far-reaching negative consequences. As political, social, and economic tensions are increasing due to a host of factors, two qualities that are much needed to find lasting solutions to complex problems are kindness and compassion. These two virtues allow us to appreciate different points of view and take decisions that are in the interest of the largest number of people, while avoiding confrontation and divisive tendencies. Kindness and compassion act as a balm on social and political divisions and thereby help bring people together and channel their energies in a positive direction.
This convention aims to offer politicians practical tools for spiritual empowerment by which they can inculcate virtues such as peace, purity, honesty and compassion in their life. These values serve as an antidote to vices, and can help politicians to not only lead a more fulfilling life, but also serve the nation better.
